A Glamping experience with Caravan Serai Exclusive Private Villas at Bentong, Pahang

Camping is rising in popularity.

If you are not sure what to gear up for your own camping stuff, you go “Glamping“.

Glamping, also known as luxury camping or glamour camping, where you just pack your clothes and bring some money to enjoy the great outdoor connection to nature. The tent is well-pitched while food will be prepared and readily served by the staff.

Here’s our journey jotted down in detail after many considerations. We plan for 2 months and did our searching online. We contacted the villas for booking and arrangement for 7 adults and 4 children. The person-in-charge Ms. Christine was very helpful.

THE ROAD TRIP!

On 20th April 2019, we start our journey from Kuala Lumpur to Bentong which takes about an hour drive. We first stop at the MRR2 Shell station for petrol. Then the second stop for lunch at Kampung Bukit Tinggi Bentong and get some fresh vegetables and fruits. We hit back to the road again and next after the right turn to Bentong, we saw a durian stall by the roadside and we decided to grab some durian. (Maybe we will create a link to talk about durian later.)

Wah seh!! (P/S: The Malaysian expression of WOW!) The durian tastes exactly like premium range even though we pay for kampung durian price of RM 8/kg. There is one taste sweet and creamy and the other one taste bittersweet! Loving it both!

THE ARRIVAL!

Coming up next we continue to drive to our destination. During the arrival, we were welcomed by the beautiful voices of the chirping birds.

From the entrance, we pass by the family KTV room, dining hall, facilities rental hall and reception counter. At the reception, we did a quick check-in and the staff guys were very helpful who provided 5-star services sending our luggage to our tent.

While we walking into the tent area, we have to walk through a hanging bridge and there is a door. This door will be closed at night time to prevent an outsider from coming in. If we needed to go out, we were given an access card. Good security, eh!

THE WELL EQUIPPED TENT

We were arranged to stay in the area where consists of 3 tents side-by-side and just nice for 3 families of us.

Our tent is equipped with two comfortable single beds, bathroom, toiletries, towel, air-conditioner and set of chair and table. Never forget there is a mosquito coil too. The toilet comes with toilet seats, showerhead and a sink! Eh, where to get in a normal camping tent!

THE FACILITIES

We walked around the resort and we found there is so much to do here. There is a large parking area inside the compound so rest assure our car is safe. We also explore a mini garden they have there and a goose farm.

There is an area where there are few hammocks around for us to rest in and there is a broken TV (Suppose to be working but were vandalized I guess), a MAHJONG table featuring 3-players tiles (A type of Chinese card game), and a quite worn out ping-pong table. ( This is due to the open area and water sipped in the wooden table)

Soon arrival of my sister Jeslyn and buddy Simon, we dip into the cool stream pool water and my kids definitely love it!

We also enjoy ourselves at the little river below the bridge. The kids definitely having fun and the parents were enjoying the cold stream of water from the river.

Once we get so wet and dirty, it’s time for dinner. So we went back to our tent and clean up ourselves. The shower pressure is just nice, strong enough to keep us clean.

AWESOME DINNER

So we have quite a group of about 7 adults, 2 children, and 2 babies. We ordered 3 pax for BBQ and 4 pax for steamboat as our booking comes with breakfast and dinner. Check out their spreads of selection they have prepared for us. We really felt like having a buffet-leh… (P/S: Typical Malaysian slang that often used at the end of sentences, such as lah.. leh.. oh..)

THE KARAOKE SESSION

We book our karaoke for 10 pm and paid RM50 for it. They charged hourly and we book it for 2 hours. The air condition in the room was fantastic and the sound system is quite decent. The selection of songs also not bad even though not up to the latest but it was good enough to have some reminiscing songs that we had in the 90s and 00s.

We really exhaust ourselves in there with a soulful voice, snacks and drinks brought ourselves. It was of time laughters and enjoyment of each other companionship.

THE MORNING WALK

Great food and great entertainment, we went back to our tent and sleep. The bed mattress was really comfortable. We slept till 7 am, waking up to the birds chirping and cold nature view outside the tent. Man! Isn’t this paradise compare to city life? Indeed it was a paradise for me.

So… We all brush up, dress up and getting ready for a nature walk lead by the resort guide. We were given yellow boots for the trekking. We were given a chance to learn how rubber tapping works. It was a great experience as we only have seen how people do it on Discovery but now you working on it with your bare hands.

Once we had our fun at the rubber tapping, we proceed to trek a slope up a hill. It was the toughest task during the whole trekking, but we brace through it with some help of each other. Once we are up there, the scene is just mesmerizing. The cold breeze and the surroundings were breathtaking, it definitely worth to climb up here. Well… As once The Great Issac Newton said, “What goes up must come down”. There we go downhill back to our resort, bracing through the river and enjoying the water stream and our surroundings. The whole walk takes about an hour more.
